VADA Defense Line
December 2024

PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

Happy holidays to all!  I hope this issue of Defense Line finds you peacefully reflecting on a successful year, with all holiday gifts procured, and prepared for a relaxing few weeks with family and friends.  However, for those of you like me, may your Amazon deliveries be swift and your stress levels moderate.

It is hard to believe that we are already wrapping up 2024.  VADA and its members accomplished a lot this year and 2025 is shaping up to follow suit.  In January, our Board of Directors will meet in Williamsburg.  If you have issues or ideas you would like to share with the Board, please reach out to me or any of our Board members.

In March, we will hold our Mediation Seminar & Workshop at the University of Richmond.  This is a great opportunity for young lawyers or lawyers who are new to defense practice to learn about mediation strategies and best practices from seasoned attorneys and mediators.

Though May seems very far off at present, our Section Chairs and Vice-Chairs are already hard at work planning for the Spring Sections Seminar in Staunton.  Please make sure to mark your calendars for May 7-9, 2025.

September will bring our Paralegal Seminar, a virtual event designed to provide guidance and resources to paralegals in defense practice.  Our Annual Meeting will take place on October 22-24, 2025 in Virginia Beach, followed by the VADA-VTLA Joint Ethics Webinar on October 29, 2025.  Finally, we’ll round out the year with our Young Lawyers Boot Camp in Richmond in December.

I look forward to another great year with you all!

Wishing you and yours a wonderful holiday season and a happy New Year.

Lindsay L. Rollins
VADA President, 2024-25

Jepson Alumni Center, University of Richmond

Given the prevalence of mediation, the seminar on Friday is designed for all attorneys with the objective of improving your mediation skills. Each session will be led by professional mediators and/or experienced attorneys. The workshop on Saturday is designed to provide a “hands-on” opportunity to conduct a mediation before a professional mediator, with constructive critiques at the end.

Space is limited, so register today.
